Disney is in the business of bringing art to life through animation, while Cirque du Soleil does the same through acrobatics. “It contains everything in it, which is great,” she said.īaker said that to truly experience the performers and the show, audiences have to see it in person. The Cirque performers come from all walks of life, Baker said - from clowning, trampoline, circus and acrobatics. She has a few more choices and movements with the role. “You have more freedom with the spider,” she said. She described the role as darker and little more cheeky than those she has played in the past. “We are going everywhere.”īaker played a few other roles before taking over the role of the black spider for the arena tour. The show is currently in North American before heading to Europe. “It makes time go so quickly, it’s scary,” she said.īaker toured with the group in Australia, Taiwan and Japan. “It was a good time for me to transition over, and it’s always a good when you can do what you love as a job,” she said.īaker has been traveling the world with the show ever since. Soon after, she trained in Montreal and then joined the cast in Australia as flea. ![]() “I said to my dad, ‘This is what I want to do,'” Baker said. She had known exactly what she wanted to do with her talents since age 8 when she first saw a Cirque du Soleil show. “You can only compete for so long, I got where I wanted,” Baker said. By 19, she had been the 2001 European Champion and took a bronze medal in the World Championships in 2012. From the age of 5, Baker had been competing in acrobatic gymnastics.
